Forgotten Angels Animal Foundation
About Our Shelter
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization set up in an attempt to change the method of "euthanasia" at our local pound from carbon monoxide (car exhaust) poisoning to lethal injection, which has been accomplished. Our goal is to rescue adoptable animals and find new loving, permanent homes so there will someday be no more homeless pets and adoptable companion animals will no longer be euthanized simply because no one wants them. We provide shelter and sanctuary until a suitable home is found. We rescue not only from our community, but from kill shelters around the state, including but not limited to, Copperas Cove, Austin, Waco, Temple and Killeen.
In the words of our friend, Paul Williams, grammy-award winning singer/songwriter, ours is a "mission of the heart."
We believe that we have an obligation to care for the animals, especially those we have domesticated who are abandoned, unwanted, or otherwise in need. We try to instill in our community an awareness of all the animals whose lives we share, to promote & encourage responsible pet ownership and to stress the importance of spaying/neutering of all companion animals.
Come Meet our Pets
Our facility is operated out of our residence and the animals are housed at our residence, which is located at the corner of S. 5th St & Pidcoke St. just off Hwy 84/Main St., in Gatesville, TX.
76528.
We are a part of the Very Best Pet Network sponsored by Wal-Mart and have most recently been working with Nestle-Purina and HEB doing some off-site adoption events, including but not limited to a Santa photo shoot at the Woodway HEB. The majority of our adoptions are the result of online postings &/or Forgotten Angel of the Week/Adopt-A-Pet ads in the local paper.
Our Adoption Process
Potential adopters are required to complete a questionnaire with basic information on type of residence, other animals, children, etc. Adoption contract specifies that the animal will be spayed or neutered within 30-90 days as required by TX Dept of Health, if the foundation has not yet had the procedure done, We provide at least basic vet care, including but not limited to; exam, shots, deworming, treatment for ear mites & treatment for fleas & ticks, and try to spay/neuter the animals before they are adopted...however, we do not always have the funds to have this procedure done. Our adoption fees vary dependent upon the animal. We specify that the animal is not to be abandoned, but if the new owner must surrender the animal for any reason, that they are to notify us before doing so. In most instances, we will take the animal back.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
