Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:
The Humane Society of Seneca County works with all of Seneca County. We are the only entity to take in cats, therefore we are typically filled to the top with cats. We usually have on any given day about eighty cats in our buidling. We also take in the stray dogs of Tiffin City limits. If the dog is outside of Tiffin City limits and was a stray it will proceed to the Dog Wardens office right down the road. Also, the Humane Society takes in surrendered animals as well. In this fallen economy we have definitely had an increase on surrendered animals in the past year or two. Unfortunate times cause unfortunate decisions. People are having to downsize and many places do not accept pets, which you guessed it, they come here.About Our Shelter:
We are the Humane Society of Seneca County! We are a non-profit organization that has a full-time staff of three. Our facility is fairly new, we built this building five years ago and work hard to keep it nice. We try our hardest to find the best homes for all of these homeless animals of Seneca County. We have animals here for over a year who have found homes! We don't lose hope!Come Meet our Pets:
We always have animals here at the shelter available for adoption. We have many fundraisers throughout the year at which sometimes we bring animals to. We have a great donors who have sponsored a timeslot on a radio station so that we can have "pet of the week." "Pet of the Week" is when we choose an animal to take to the radio and get the word out about that specific pet. We try to do a dog one week then a cat the next week. We just always want to keep the animals our first priority. Our Adoption Process:
We always love for the potential adopters to come and visit with an animal to make certain that it will match their personality. There is an adoption application form that must be filled out, once this is done it is usually a 24 hour process. Once the application is approved, the animal, if not already, must go to our vet here and get either spayed or neutered. After these procedures are finished then the animal may go home. For adoption of a dog: $90 fee, we give them their age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, de-flea'd, tested for heartworm, given heartworm preventative, and spayed/neutered before leaving our facility
For a cat adoption: $80 fee, we give them their age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, de-flea'd, tested for feline leukemia, given heartworm preventative, and spayed/neutered before leaving our facility
