About Our Rescue Group:Texas Greyhound Adoption Program, formerly Hill Country Greyhound Adoption was founded in 1993 for the sole purpose of rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of retired racing Greyhounds. The TxGap kennel is located in Seguin, Texas, but we are available in the San Antonio, Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. We will also adopt out of state to approved homes. We operate strictly on donations and volunteers.
TxGap not only works in placing Greyhounds as pets in qualified homes, but we also work very hard to diminish Greyhound cruelty, abuse and neglect working with the Texas Greyhound Association and the National Greyhound Association. TxGap is the ONLY Greyhound placement agency thas has trained cruelty investigators. TxGap investigates complaints regarding an owner, breeder, Greyhounds in shelters or pound and other Greyhound placement agencies/persons. If you have a complaint or question call 830.303.2229 or email CEO@hillcountrygreyhounds.com
Come Meet our Pets:We have a kennel in Seguin to house the greyhounds when they first come in. There they are evaluated for temperament and wellness. From there, they are moved to foster homes and then are ready for adoption. We are at Petsmart every weekend and some dogs can be viewed at the kennel and foster homes by appointment once we receive an approved application. Please check our website at www.txgap.org for a complete schedule of our events.
Our Adoption Process:Our process includes an application and adoption agreement. Our adoption fee is $210.00. This includes, spay or neuter, teeth cleaning, all vaccinations, heartworm check, lyme disease check, ehrlichia check and intestinal worm check and a greyhound collar and leash and microchip. Any positive results during the vet check up will be treated.
We require that the greyhounds be house dogs only and must have annual vet checkups and stay on heartworm prevention.
We also require that all other dogs in the household be altered.
We are also in the process of adding all of our adoptable dogs and pictures.
