The Kingsport Animal Shelter is operated by the Humane Society of Greater Kingsport and serves the City of Kingsport, Tennessee. It is a non-profit organization operated through the generosity and donations of the community it serves. Every year thousands of animals are helped through the work of the shelter employees and the volunteers with the shelter and the Humane Society. Puppies, kittens, dogs, cats and sometimes other animals are available for adoption 7 days a week at our shelter in Kingsport, TN. Every Saturday and many Sundays you may also find volunteers at the PetsMart in Johnson City, TN with animals available for adoption. Adoption fees are reasonable and include spay or neuter and additional bonuses from local veterinarians who participate in our programs. Our shelter is open from 12:30-5 pm Monday-Saturday and 12:30-4 on Sundays.

The Kingsport Animal Shelter is located at 2141 Idle Hour Road in Kingsport, TN. 423-247-1671. We are also at the PetsMart in Johnson City in the Crossings on Saturdays from noon until 5 pm and Most Sundays from 1-5 pm.
Our Adoption Process:
Potential adopters must complete an adoption application. Renters must provide name and number of landlord (who will be contacted) for landlord approval before adoption. You must be at least 18 years old to adopt from us or bring your parents or legal guardian. Adoption fees range from $20-$85 depending on kind of animal, spay/neuter status, etc. Upon approval of adoption application an adoption contract must be completed and signed and adoption fees paid. ALL ADOPTION FEES ARE DUE UPON ADOPTION. The Kingsport Animal Shelter accepts cash, Checks, Visa, Mastercard and Debit Cards. Please contact the shelter at 423-247-1671 for additional information.

for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
