Pets at Our Shelter:

About Our Shelter:

Pets for Seniors is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization that matches older shelter dogs and cats with qualifying senior citizens. We work with all area shelters to help place their older pets and we also have a shelter where we can foster and evaluate older animals released to us from animal control facilities.
You don't have to be a senior citizen to adopt from us, however seniors receive a discounted adoption fee and if they live in our area, we can even take possibilities to their home for an "interview". In addition, we will take care of the animal for free should they have to spend time in a hospital and we'll always take it back if they can no longer keep it.

Come Meet our Pets:

We are located 10 miles west of Peoria, IL. We are a private shelter so appointments need to be made to meet the animals. If you are a senior citizen living in this area, we can bring the animals to you to meet.
Our largest event is the Central IL Pet Expo which will be held Sat, June 4th, 2005 from 11 - 4. For more information on the Expo go to

Our Adoption Process:

The adoption process involves filling out an application. The fees are $75 for cats and $100 -$125 for dogs. To seniors 60 and over the fee is $25 for cats and $50 for dogs. All vet work has been done including dentals, if needed.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
