We serve Burnett County. Stray dogs within Burnett County must be turned in to the shelter to enable us to try to find their owner. Cats are taken in on an limited basis due to space availability so please call ahead. If you are surrendering your animal then a relinquish form must be completed.

Come Meet our Pets:

The shelter is located on Midtown Road, 1/2 block to the east of Highway 35, just north of the government center. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 pm. The shelter is closed Sunday, Monday and all holidays.

Our Adoption Process:

All adoptors must fill out a pre-application form which can be completed on our website or picked up at our office.
References are checked and criminal background are done.. All animals must be housed in the home as part of the family, no exceptions. A contract is required. A full refund less $5 processing fee will be made if the dog or cat is returned within two weeks of adoption. After two weeks the dog or cat must be returned to HSBC if the owner can not keep it, but no refund will be given.

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
