Additional adoption info

Adopting a pet through C.A.R.E.S. is a very personal process--we don't just adopt to anyone that has the money! There is an application that needs to be filled out and approved. If approved, then you can meet the dog. If the meeting goes well, depending on the dog, there may be a home visit. If the home visit goes well, the dog will stay with you. After the home visit, we will follow-up with you on a regular basis to make sure that everything is going well. Our adoption fees vary by pet and will be identified in the pet's description.

C.A.R.E.S. does NOT return long distance phone calls, nor do we adopt more than two hours away from Wyoming, MN. Thank you!

About C.A.R.E.S.

C.A.R.E.S. is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals. We are proud to be a true no-kill rescue that simply does not believe that an animal should be destroyed simply for being what they are, an animal. We save dogs from other animal welfare organizations and individual people who don't have the ability or desire to keep the animal. We respect every animal for what they are, work with them if we need to, and find them an appropriate home. If a home cannot be found, the animal will live with us forever.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
