Pets at Our Rescue Group:
Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:We serve northwest Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma, and southwest Missouri. We DO NOT SHIP our rescues anywhere, by any means of transportation! We require a "face-to-whiskers" meeting to ensure the adopters and the pets are a good match.
About Our Rescue Group:I have been involved in animal rescue since 1983 and was a veterinarian technician for 5 years before my disabilities forced me into early retirement. Stray Central was incorporated on October 4, 1999 and IRS nonprofit status was granted on August 24, 2000.
As an animal rescue organization, Stray Central’s goal is to prevent hundreds of companion animals from going to over-crowded area shelters each year, shelters where most of them would certainly be euthanized. Our main function is to spay/neuter, vaccinate, tend to the medical/emotional needs, and be a safe haven for as many homeless, unwanted, and abused/neglected companion animals as possible until they can be adopted into loving, forever homes. Our second purpose is to be a devoted home where companion animals with severe medical, emotional, and/or behavioral problems can spend their remaining days with love, understanding, and without the threat of euthanasia. Stray Central’s third, but no less essential role is to be a source of information for pet owners and to educate the public about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets and all other aspects of responsible pet ownership.

Come Meet our Pets:When one of our sweeties wins your heart, send us an e-mail or give us a call. We’ll set up a time for us to meet so you can get to know your new partner - face-to-whiskers!
Older people and older animals. Two of the most ignored populations in our community yet two groups with the most to give. Just because they aren’t “young” doesn’t mean they stop feeling, loving, and contributing. Everybody who’s “age challenged” deserves a chance – whether they have two legs or four! If you really want a purr-ball but don’t want to go through the silly kitten antics at 3 a.m., consider adopting an older cat. They have plenty of love to give – but they do it in a calmer, quieter way! Save a Life – Adopt an Older Animal!
And it IS true – Two cats are less trouble than one! Since they have each other for company, they’re less likely to “get into trouble” looking for something to do. Honest!
Our Adoption Process:We have an initial questionnaire to be filled out by potential adopters that will give us an idea if the match is a good one. If the questionnaire is approved, we then require a legally-binding adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee be paid. If the pet hasn't had it's full round of vaccinations or hasn't been spayed/neutered yet, adopters are required to use the provided Stray Central form to be completed by the adopter's veterinarian and returned to us, showing the procedures were done. Adopters are provided with a medical record showing what procedures have been done (worming, vaccinations, etc.), when they were done, and when/if follow-ups are needed.
DECLAWING CATS IS NOT PERMITTED and is cause for immediate surrender back to Stray Central!
References WILL be checked and an adoption fee will be charged so NO BUNCHERS need apply!
