Lil' Tykes Rescue & Adoption's adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require Adoption forms and a one time Home visit. If out of our town area then we ask help from other rescues/shelters to get this done.. We care very much for our kids and like to make sure where they are going.. Our fee is $150 which doesn't even touch what most kids cost. All come with a 6 month supply of Heartgard, as well.

About Lil' Tykes Rescue & Adoption

We are a Small NoKill Mandatory Spay/Neuter Rescue that is run by myself and my son. We saw the need for rescuing when I volunteered to make the webpage for a Shelter in Wetumpka, Al. We have been rescuing our kids for about 3 yrs now. They come from Kill Shelters, streets, owner turnins and vets that get them in, who know us! We rescue small breed dogs both pure and mixed, HW test, if pos. they are treated, all shots and worming and any other medical needs that appear are taken care of as well, like fractures, eye problems, hair loss, etc.
We are not funded by anyone, just do what we can day by day. Adoption fees are our main resource of income. we hope to find sponsors to help with the vet expenses and to help improve our rescue.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
