About Our
Rescue
Group:
The People's Anti-Cruelty Association (PACA) was founded in 1973 as a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization. It was created to provide a safe haven for homeless dogs until a permanent home was found. PACA is the oldest No-Kill animal rescue organization in the state of New Mexico.
Albuquerque Animal Rescue (AAR) was created in 1992 as the community outreach division of the organization and added the rescue of cats to the venue. AAR focuses on the adoption phase of the animal rescue work.
Come Meet our Pets:
While many of the animals available through PACA are in foster homes, we also operate "Kitty City", New Mexico's first cageless cat adoption center, located in Clark's Pet Supply, 11200 Menaul NE in Albuquerque. Kitty City may be visited at any time during Clarks regular business hours. CAT ADOPTION CLINICS are held every Saturday 11am to 4pm both at Kitty City and at PetSmart (Academy/Wyoming) . The DOG ADOPTION CLINIC is held every Saturday, weather permitting, 11am to 4pm at PetSmart at Academy/Wyoming (next to Walmart and Smiths). If you would like to adopt an animal from PACA please call (505) 255 0544 or email us at pacacats@aol.com or pacadogs@aol.com or stop by one of the adoption clinics.
Our Adoption Process:
Prospective pet-parents are asked to fill out an adoption questionnaire and are interviewed to ensure a good match. Adoption fees are $95 for cats and $125 for dogs. All animals PACA/AAR offers for adoption have been spayed or neutered with shots current to the animal's age. Our cats are tested for feline leukemia and FIV. All of the dogs and cats have been microchipped.
