About Our Rescue Group:

Tuxedo Junction Rescue is a no-kill rescue organization dedicated to providing tender care and permanent placement into loving homes for cats at risk for being put to death in shelters in the Austin, Texas area.
We are a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) charity.
As space permits, Tuxedo Junction Rescue will also provide a safe haven to cats at risk of danger or death through abuse, neglect, or abandonment, with the goal of finding secure permanent arrangements for these cats.

TJR supports the concept of no more homeless pets by spaying and neutering all cats in its care before adoption.

Tuxedo Junction Rescue primarily rescues black and white ("tuxedo") and black cats because of their historic difficulty in being placed through shelters. However, this focus does not preclude rescue of other cats in need.

Tuxedo Junction Rescue believes in thinking globally and caring LOCALLY, and only adopts to permanent residents of the greater Austin area. People outside Austin are encouraged to use this site to find their new family member from a shelter or rescue organization in their area.

You are always welcome to come and visit the cats at our location. If you'd like to visit, please call first at 451-3669 and arrange a time to come.
Please don't call after 8 pm as that's when we're tucking in our fur friends for the night!

Our Adoption Process:

We require an adoption application in writing, a vet reference, and do not do same day adoptions. We only adopt cats in the Austin, TX area and do not do out of area adoptions.

Our adoption fee covers testing for FIV/FeLV, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and antiparasite treatment (if needed).

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
