We do not limit adoptions by geographic location. However, we do not ship or transport our animals. Adopters are required to pick up the animal in person and transport the animal with them.

About Our Shelter:

Furry Friends is a 501(c)3 no kill, Non for Profit shelter founded November 1, 2001. An all volunteer organization; Furry Friends does not pay salaries or compensation of any kind.

We rescue dumped, abandoned and abused animals regardless of age, gender, size or breed.

Furry Friends is also committed to educating the public on the importance of training and spaying/neutering companion animals, as well as increasing awareness of responsible pet ownership.

We provide assistance to Senior Citizens and individuals with special needs by making it affordable to have a companion animal.

We sponsor 4 Approved Humane Investigators. These Investigators are certified through the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Health & Welfare. To report possible cruelty to animals, or other violations of the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act, please call our facility at (618)214-8029

Our Adoption Process:

Our animals are provided with any medical care that may be needed. They are wormed, vaccinated, spayed or netuered and microchipped in accordance with Illinois State Law. They are placed on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.

Our animals are crate trained, provided with some basic beginning obedience training and exposed to a home like environment, which includes television and radio broadcasts. They enjoy playtime and socialization with our volunteers.

We guarantee our animals are healthy and temperament tested.

Our TAX DEDUCTIBLE adoption fee is $175.00. Fees are payable in cash or money order. We do not accept personal checks.

Our adoption procedure includes an Application for Adoption (you can access our on-line form at http://lobo.mvn.net/adopt.htm), a Home Check and an Adoption Contract.

We also maintain a website for our parents to join (http://groups.msn.com/LOBOANIMALSHELTER). This community is for advice, information, bragging and posting pictures. We encourage all of our parents to join.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
