385 Kaolin Road
Cobden, IL 62920
Union County Animal Shelter is the shelter for Union County Animal Control. Although we are a small facility and county, we take in an average of 1200 animals per year. Internet is our major source of adoptions. There are simply too many super nice animals that come through our shelter. Shelters should be places of second chances, not always final destinations.
Come Meet our Pets:
We are located at 385 Kaolin Road, between Anna and Cobden in the southern tip of Illinois. We are across the river from Cape Girardeau. Our shelter hours are Mon, Wed., Thurs., and Fri., 1-4 and Sat. 9-12. We are severely understaffed and are not able to participate in adoption events, but we do work with adequately licensed rescue groups and utilize any means we are capable of using to place our animals.
Our Adoption Process:
Our adoption fees are $60 for dogs and $50 for cats. $20 goes towards the spay or neuter, they are microchipped, receive their shots and first worming. If they are over 4 months of age, they are spayed or neutered and given their rabies shot before they go home, and the fee above the $20 is the responsibility of the adopter.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
