About Our Rescue Group:

In 2004, a 14-year-old high school junior decided to make a difference. Already a therapy dog volunteer trainer and handler, she wanted to help not only people but also animals. She defined her own personal mission - to address the fundamental issues of irresponsible ownership and lack of public understanding - and began her search for such an organization. Finding many wonderful charities but none that focused on public education and breed specific discrimination in particular, Audrey founded Imladris Dog Rescue at the age of fifteen.

Our Adoption Process:

We recommend that our adopters donate three hundred dollars to help defray the costs of operating a non-profit corporation (yes, we pay the government and IRS when we file forms) and providing adequately for our dogs. However, both more and less is happily received.

We require each adopter to sign a binding adoption contract as proof of ownership and in order to protect our dogs. Every adopter also goes home with a special adoption certificate!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
