Happy Strays Rescue
About Our Rescue Group
Happy Strays Rescue is a non-profit rescue organization that cares for stray, abandoned and orphaned cats and kittens. All of our cats are attended to medically, each is spayed or neutered, given vaccinations, tested for FELV/FIV, and then we begin the search for loving homes. Our rescues are often just babies who require bottlefeeding and hand rearing. Our cats and kittens are cared for in a network of wonderful foster homes while they wait for adoption.
We are always looking for more foster homes, please contact us at info@happystrays.org if you would like to foster. We also try to educate the public on the huge pet-overpopulation problem. We bottle-feed kittens and try to educate people to do this and not bring them to the already overcrowded shelters. We also have a small pet food bank and help provide pet food to senior citizens and low-income people when we have it available.
We are a 501c3 non-profit group and donations are always welcome! All donations are tax deductible. We also have a wish list available (http://www.happystrays.org/Pet_Food_Bank.html) at our adoption events and we really are in desperate need of foster homes for abandoned litters of kittens!
Online donations may be made at www.active.com/donate/happystrays or you can mail donations to Happy Strays Rescue, P.O. Box 12, La Canada, Ca 91012
Come Meet our Pets
We currently have many many cats and kittens ready for adoption! Because we do not have a shelter and our cats reside in foster homes they are only available to be seen at our adoption Saturdays. If there is a cat you would like to meet, please let us know so that we can make sure the kitty is at our next evemt. Our cats are available for adoption every Saturday from 11 am-3:30 pm at the Petco in La Canada located at 475 Foothill- (Take the Foothill exit off the 210 freeway). To request that a kitty be available on a Saturday, email info@happystrays.org or contact the foster on the cat's webpage.
Our Adoption Process
Our fees are $100 and include spay/neuter, testing for Felv/FIV and all vaccinations. We have an adoption questionaire and contract to be signed, and we require all our cats to be "inside only". We do not allow de-clawing but we often rescue declawed cats and have them available for adoption. If the adoption is not a good fit for the cat or family, pets may always be returned to us.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat
or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from
a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
