Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:
We are located in Athens County, Ohio. We adopt primarily to surrounding areas and occasionally neighboring states.About Our Rescue Group:
The Athens County Humane Society's primary focus is to provide low-cost spay and neuter options for the public. We host monthly low cost mobile spay and neuter clinics. If you live in the area and need your dog or cat spayed or neutered, let us know so that you can be scheduled for one. All details about the process are on our website.Learn more about us, how to meet our animals, and our adoption process at www.athenshumane.petfinder.org! See a complete listing of our adoptable animals at www.petfinder.org
Come Meet our Pets:
We have animals available through our Community Outreach program and through our foster care program. In addition to foster homes, some of our cats or kittens can be seen at satellite locations (local businesses). Leave a message on our voicemail (740-592-6047) or send us an email if there is a particular one you would like to meet. We do not have a shelter. Our Adoption Process:
To adopt one of our animals:1) Find the adoption questionnaire on our website: www.athenshumane.petfinder.com
2)Fill out the questionnaire and return it. This lets us get to know you and what you're looking for in a companion.
3) After we receive your questionnaire we will review it and contact you (this may take a couple of days).
4) Meet your next best friend.
5) If your family and the dog or cat are a good match in personality and lifestyle, then proceed with the adoption process which involves a contract and an adoption fee.
*A home visit may be a part of the adoption process.
The adoption process typically takes a couple days, and can be affected by the schedule of the adopter and the foster caregiver.
The adoption fee for all dogs are $100 and spay or neuter and vaccinations
The adoption fee for adult cats (6 mos. or older) are $50. Adult cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for fleas and parasites. Kitten adoption fees are $70 for a female and $60 for a male. Kittens are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for fleas and parasites.
