Our Adoption Process
If you have decided to adopt a Weim, we assume you have taken the time to CAREFULLY research the breed, and know that this is the breed for you. If not, please take the time to do so before you fill out an application, on which you will be asked questions about Weimaraners in general to ensure you are the right home for a Weim!
The first step in the adoption process is to complete an adoption application – please e-mail Jen at wujenj14@hotmail.com for an application. Completing the application does NOT imply that you will get a rescue dog, it is the first step to finding a rescue Weimaraner’s forever home.
We do allow adoptions out of New York State, however, you must complete the adoption process and you must also be willing to sign a contract that, if for any reason, the adoption does not work out that you will return the dog to New York State Weimaraner Rescue at your expense.
New York State Weimaraner Rescue operates completely on donations and volunteers. We do ask for an Adoption Donation for every dog placed. The donation is set on the age, health, and vet bills we have incurred with the Weims. The donations range from $100-$350.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog
or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from
a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
