Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue
About Our Rescue Group
Ahimsa Haven was incorporated in 1999 as a nonprofit animal rescue group. Our mission is to find good homes for abused, abandoned, homeless and unwanted domestic animals. Ahimsa is a term from an eastern religion that means "To do no harm, in thought or deed, to any living creature." We are raising money to build a shelter in Winchendon, MA to provide emergency medical care for animals in need, along with routine medical care for animals in our foster care program. Every penny we raise goes to the animals - no one gets a salary!
Come Meet our Pets
We are grateful to Petco for letting us do an adoption page the second saturday of every month from 10-2. Many other events throughout the year, check www.ahimsahaven.org for more details.
Our Adoption Process
Puppies less than one year $250-$300 depending on breed and age. Dogs less than 5 years old are $200. Dogs over 5 years old are $150 or less depending on age and health status. These fees include spay or neuter, vaccination against rabies, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and bordetella. We also worm and groom the dogs, and test for heartworm. Heartworm positive dogs are treated, and negative dogs are started on monthly prevention. Each dog has a full veterinary exam, and any medical issues that we are aware of are taken care of Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization, so your donations are tax deductible. Our adoption policies are as follows: We require a signed adoption contract, and payment of adoption fee prior to placement. Fee is refundable if the dog is returned within two weeks. We require that the dog be returned to our care, in the event the placement does not work out even if that is many years in the future. Failure to return the dog to us, and placing the dog elsewhere, will result in legal action and you will be held liable for a fine of $500. We will take any of our rescues back, regardless of the reason. We may require home visits prior to placing a dog. We do not adopt out intact dogs--all of our rescues are spayed or neutered prior to placement. We reserve the right to refuse any applicant.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
