Pets at Our Shelter:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We serve all of Buncombe County and we work with surrounding counties to serve the greatest number of clients both 2-footed and furry 4-footed as possible.

About Our Shelter:

Furever Friends Animal Rescue Network is a non- profit, NO-KILL, all volunteer animal rescue and shelter that is committed to improving the welfare of stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens. We have been in operation since 2002 serving the Local Buncombe County area as well as surrounding counties. We work closely with local individuals and families in our communities to provide a NO-KILL alternative to the local government shelters. We rely on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers who open their hearts to help us take care of the animal orphans that desperately need our help.

Our goal is to provide an alternative destination for animals that can no longer be kept by their owners while at the same time educating the owners in regards to proper animal care and problem solving. We assist the families of loved ones who are ill and as a result can no longer care for their animals. We also assist those families that have generously taken a forgotten stray into their homes and are looking for a permanent home. We provide temporary sanctuary for the animals of owners who are in abusive personal situations and need temporary placement for their beloved animals until they can reclaim them.

Our State-Licensed private shelter facility is a temporary home for our rescued feline friends. In it, they experience the best care we can provide in a loving environment while awaiting adoption. Those animals that are ultimately unable to find permanent homes are welcome to live out their lives with us in our Sanctuary, receiving care and all the love and attention we can provide.

All animals in our care are tested, vaccinated and altered prior to their placement in a loving home. We fully support and promote sterilization of all companion animals. We promote good health and proper care for all animals adopted thru our programs. A proper nutritionally complete diet, exercise, regular veterinary care and a loving home are the goals for all of our adoptions.

We conduct weekly adoption events where we work to find permanent loving homes for our cats and kittens while informing the public about pet overpopulation, promoting sterilization and providing information on local low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter organizations.

Our ultimate mission is to place our cats and kittens in permanent homes where they will have the love, comfort and safety they deserve.

Come Meet our Pets:

We setup adoption events at the PETCO Store at 825 Brevard Road, Asheville, NC 28806. We are there every Saturday and Sunday of the year from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We transport as many animals as we have space for and that we believe are ready for adoption.

Should you see a specific animal on our website that you would like to meet, please contact us. We will review the animal and if we feel it is ready for a new home we will transport it to our adoption event so you can meet them.

Our Adoption Process:

Our adoption process is quite simple. We ask that the potential adoptor complete a screening form which asks questions that allow us to attempt to match the approprite pet for you. When we agree on an animal, you will complete an adoption contract and kitten or Kitty is ready to go home with you.

Our adoption fees are set at a level that allows us to recover a portion of making the animal medically ready for adoption. To this end, all animals will be either spayed or neutered when they are made ready for adoption. All animals are tested for FIV/Leukemia and Heartworm, are current on their vaccination for their age, have been treated for fleas and are microchipped. Our adoption fee for adult cats (1 year and older) is $50.00 and our kittens are $90.00.

ALL of our adoptions are strictly indoor only meaning the kitty is to live completely inside their adoptors residence.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
