Flying K9s Herd Dog Rescue
About Our Rescue Group
Flying K9s Herd Dog Rescue is based in the Cincinnati,OH area and the Dayton, OH area. We specialize in placing herding breeds, such as Australian Cattle Dogs, Border Collies, and Australian Shepherds, and mixes combining any of these 3 breeds. Most of our fosters are rescued from local and regional shelters when they are out of time; all are temperment tested. We will not accept any aggressive dogs or dogs with serious behavioral issues. We are a small operation, and only take in 1-3 dogs at a time; they live in our homes with us and our own dogs, learning the basics of house life. Occasionally, when a dog shows great potential, we will begin their training as a disc dog!
Come Meet our Pets
You can meet our pets on line by going to our website: www.flyingk9s.org, on this website or several other websites. If you see a dog you are interested in, email us or call us and we meet you with the dog. We typically will have you come over to our house, meet in a dog park or other neutral area with lots of space to play and run or we come to your house.
Our Adoption Process
Adopting one of our dogs is a process; so be patient as we take the time to learn more about you, your family and home, and try to make the right match for our dogs. If you find a pup you are interested in, e-mail or call for more info! We conduct a phone interview/adoption application, home visit (when applicable), and vet references. A contract must be signed to finalize the adoption. Our adoption fee is now $175-$200 per dog, and covers all veterinary expenses, bail-out fees, travel expenses, and in some cases training. Herding breeds are not for everyone, and almost always need a job to best utilize their minds and bodies! We want to make sure we find the best possible match for both you and our dogs. Interested in putting that high energy K9 to work? Check out our disc dog club, the Southern Ohio Flying K9s for training tips and competition info: flyingk9s.org
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
