Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing cruelty, abuse, neglect, and over-population of unwanted animals while seeking adoption of these animals into compatible homes, and teaching humane awareness and respect for all life thus helping to build a better community.About Our Shelter:
The Humane Society was put together by a group of ladies, who did not like the out come of what was happening to the unwanted animals in our area. So about 7 years ago they decided to take over and open a humane society. The agreement was that the society would pick up the strays in the county, house them, feed and care for, until homes could be found. It was decided among the group that we could house 40 dogs and 40 cats. Once that number has been reached we have to reduce to a smaller number, never going over 40. There is a shelter for the cats and one for the dogs.We are in need of volunteers to help walk dogs, clean kennels or any other help you can offer.
We are in great need of donations for medicine and other needs for the animals.
If you can help in any way, please give us a call at (304) 299-2273
Curently we are way to full, have to make some room and fast. We are Rescue Friendly...

She is sometimes away on calls to pick up strays, etc. If you want to visit the shelter and are not located near St. Marys, WV please call first. We are located in St. Marys, WV on Rt. 16. Rt. 16 is located between the Wendy's and the High School which are located on Rt. 2. St. Marys is about 20 minutes from Parkersburg, WV and 20 minutes from Marietta, OH. It is a beautiful drive down Rt. 7 from Marietta. Cross the bridge in Newport OH and you are almost at the shelter. The shelter is about 1/2 mile up the hill on Rt. 16. Watch for the sign on the left hand side of the road.
We now have new building for the out side animals. It is 120 x 35 and has 14 big doors for natural air in the warmer months and can be closed in for the winter months. There are 42 10x5 kennels. We also have an out side ficility thats used in the summer months for now and a block building with 8 kennels for small dogs and puppies.
Our Adoption Process:
Adopt A PetWe are not real strict on the adoption policy. The animal has to be spayed or neutered. We also try to place the animals into the right home. If the dog doesn't like cats then he can not be adopted to a home who has cats and so on. The same goes for the cats.
