PAWS Animal Shelter
About Our Shelter
PAWS Animal Shelter is a non profit adoption center for homeless and unwanted cats.

We also take in newborn orphaned kittens who are cared for by the PAWS Bottle Brigade, a group of volunteers who are willing to give round the clock care to the smallest of animal babies.

PAWS is a no-kill shelter where the animals are allowed to roam freely.

All of our cats are named after famous people, so visitors to our shelter may honesty be able to say that they met Oprah Winfrey and she sat on their lap.

We have all kinds of cats here. We have: Big cats, Little cats, Short cats, Fat cats, Nice cats and a couple of Crabby cats...

PAWS Animal Shelter began because of two unwanted cats sitting on Death Row in a Vet clinic and no where for them to go.

I had no idea that so many animals, especialy cats were abandoned on a regular basis in the State of Oregon.

We work to educate the public on the importance and responsibility of adopting a pet as the newest member of the family member.

As a shelter where the animals are allowed to roam freely, we have become experts in the field of geting animals to behave themselves.

One visitor to the shelter commented that she has been in a lot of shelters, but she has never been in a shelter where the cats are "so happy and relaxed"

We are more than happy to share the secret of how we do it.

Come visit and see for yourself.

Purrs.

Our Adoption Process
Am adptor must be 18 years of age or older.

If a potential adoptor lives with a family member, the family member must co-sign as being responsible for the animal in the event the adopter can no longer care for the animal.

Anyone who rents where they live must have paid all of the required deposits and signed all of the appropriate paperwork prior to any animal going home.

There is a contract to sign that says you promis to take care of the animal for the rest of it's life or return the animal to PAWS if for any reason you can no longer care for the animal.

All animals ovre 5lbs are be spayed or neutered. All animals under 5lbs are required to be spayed/neutered on or before a certain date. This is a part of the contract that is non negotiable.

We require that our animals be indoor pets with the ability to go outside. We want the new pet to be considered a member of the family and treated as though they were a small child. If you would not have a child outside...our animal should not be outside either.

Our adoption fee is $80.00 for an adult
for a kitten it is $110.00

An animal who is 10 years or older qualifies for our Elder Care Program. Any animal in our Elder Care Program is considered to be in a Permenant Foster Home. The animal lives with it's new family, but legaly belongs to PAWS Animal Shelter. For animals in our Elder Care Program PAWS is there to make and pay for Medical Decisions for our Elder Animals.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
