ADAR Rescue
About Our Rescue Group
We are a "Grassroots" organization, that takes in unwanted pets, that are either abandoned, abused, strays or with only a short time left at local shelters.
We do not take in owner surrenders animals, in most cases. We often take in the animals other rescue groups cannot. Amputations, those needing heartworm treatment and other such cases.
We are a not for profit group, who's main support is through donations and our minimal adoption fees.
All our dogs live in foster homes, so appointments and adoption events are the only way to see the animals.
Come Meet our Pets
Check out adoption day schedule on our web-site adarrescue.com.
Two to Three Saturdays per month we are in the adoption room at Pets Supplies Plus on Hwy 280 in Brimingham. This store is located in the same shopping plaza as Target and Best Buy, approx 1 mile from I-459. Our hours in the room are from 11 am until 4 pm. We will make appointments for Sundays and Weeknights.
We also try to participate monthly in a local adopt-a-thon in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area.
Our Adoption Process
All potential adopters must do an verbal interview with one of our volunteers. Once you are approved and have chosen a pet, you must sign a contract regarding the life long care of the animal.
Most animals are spay/neutered before adopting and our adoption fee is $100. If the animal is too young for sterilization the adoption fee is only $50, but a method to ensure that the animal is sterilized is determined based on the place of residence of the adopting family. Often times either a certificate for spay/neuter is purchased at the time of adoption or a deposit is held by the rescue until the surgery is performed.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
