About Our Rescue Group:

Closer to Home Animal Advocates (CTHAA) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are a group of caring individuals who work to find forever homes for Norwegian Elkhounds, Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and sometimes other breeds as our hearts lead us. We are dedicated to placing dogs that have been abandoned, neglected, or whose present homes cannot keep them any longer. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative medication. CTHAA strives to find the best match between the dog and the new forever home. Our goal is to place each dog into a permanent home where it will become a loved and cared for member of the household. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes.

Come Meet our Pets:

All of our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only after the application has been submitted and approved.

Our Adoption Process:

Our adoption process consists of having you fill out an application which includes veterinarian and personal references. Once these references have been checked, we will schedule a home visit. The home visit is not meant to invade your privacy. We only want to make sure that your home is safe and prepared for your new pet. At that time you will be required to complete an Adoption Contract with CTHAA. Please e-mail us and an Adoption Application will be sent to you.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
