The Sanilac County Animal Shelter is located in a very rural area and only consists of 14 dog kennels and 6 cat cages. Although we try very hard, not all of our animals are placed and unfortunately have to be humanely euthanized due to limited space and funding. Two full time animal control officers are employed at Sanilac County Animal Control.

Our Adoption Process:If you are interested in adopting a pet on our site, please contact us for an adoption application. The adoption application is required before you can adopt a pet. This is for you and your family’s benefit and the pet's benefit. The application tells us about the applicant and helps guide us in placing the correct animal in the right forever home. Once a COMPLETED application is received, a representative of SCACS will review your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. SCACS reserves the right to refuse an application. By filling out an application, you are not obligated to adopt an animal from us and you are not guaranteed one of ours. It normally takes 2-10 days to process the application.
Dogs & Puppies are $60.00. Cats & Kittens are $50.00. All adopted pets must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption by law. Once altered you are refunded $30.00.
PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER ALL OF YOUR PETS!
