About Our Rescue Group:

The mission of Colbert Veterinary Rescue Services, Inc. is to provide veterinary care for healthy or sick, unwanted, adoptable dogs and cats in need and to place each dog/cat into a loving and permanent home.

We also assist other rescue organizations in pulling and caring for dogs that they will adopt through their organization.

We also take animal abuse seriously and should we have knowledge of animal abuse or neglect, we reserve the right to prosecute.

Come Meet our Pets:

We are currently working with our volunteers to set up an adoption site in Athens, Georgia. We will keep you posted with information once we know.

Our Adoption Process:

The adoption process requires that an adoption application be filled out and returned to us. Please e-mail us at colbertvet@yahoo.com for the application. Once we receive it back, we will process it - we do call veterinary references and personal references listed and verify information that is given to us. We also require a home visit, so if you are applying from out-of-state, it may take time to arrange for a shelter or rescue close to you to do the visit for us.
Our adoption fees for cats are $75 and for dogs it ranges from $150 to $250, depending on the dog.
Once the application has been approved, then you may come and meet the dog or cat.
We make every effort to match the right animal for the right home. If we do not believe that the temperament of the animal you are applying for is in your family's best interest, we will let you know and may recommend another animal.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
