About Our Shelter:

The PURRfect KITTY is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Shelter & Adoption Center for Felines.

Our mission is to provide a place for homeless felines to have a quality of life in a loving environment until their dreams of becoming part of a family come true.

The PURRfect KITTY is operated by volunteers & we have no government funding or major sponsors.
Donations through adoptions and generosity of others is our sole means of survival.

From the North East: Take L.I.E. (west) to exit 48 (Round Swamp Rd.) turn left at light towards Mobil gas station. Go to second light (1/4 mile) and turn right onto Newtown Rd., we are the 5th building on left side.

From the North West: Take L.I.E. (east) to exit 48 (Round Swamp Rd.) turn right at Mobil gast station. Go to second light (1/4 mile) and turn right onto Newtown Rd., we are the 5th building on left side.

From the South West or East: Take Southern State Pkwy. (towards Wantagh) to Rt. 135 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expwy.) north to Exit 10 (Old Country Rd.) east. Turn right onto Old Country Rd., go 6-traffic lights and make a left onto Newtown Rd., we are the 5th building on left side.

Adopting & Age Requirements

Once you find your purrfect kitty, we have an application to be completed & approved and a contract to be signed. You must be at least 23 yrs. old to adopt. We kindly ask that anyone visiting our facility be at least 23 yrs. or older. Anyone under 23, must be accompanied by an Adult . We do not permit 3rd party adoptions.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
