Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Las Vegas will soon be home to one of newest concepts in Animal Sanctuaries: Heaven Can Wait. HCWS is a non-profit organization that will house over 200 dogs and 100 cats who are adoptable, but did not find homes at area shelters. It will be a state of the art facility set in a lush fifteen acre park. There will be no time limit on how long a pet can stay with us, and everything we do during their stay will focus solely on preparing the animals for a life with a human family of their own. The sanctuary will contain condominiums resembling real houses for the pets to stay in, complete with furniture, doors, windows, and a backyard for playing. We will also house a park/school for the dogs, where they will be able to exercise freely, and will also be trained to exhibit proper manners for their new owner. To ensure the health of the pets, our facility will also contain a veterinary clinic that will be open to the public. Here the pets will be able to keep up with their shots, and will be properly bathed and groomed. Our main building will have a special center for adoptions with easy access computers, and a training center for people who want to learn about animal care and obedience. Heaven Can Wait will be a sanctuary for everyone in Las Vegas!

About Our Rescue Group:

Our Vision:

Eliminate the senseless killing of over 30,000 cats and dogs annually in the Las Vegas area shelters.

Our Mission:

Initiate aggressive spay/neuter programs to prevent unwanted litters of cats and dogs in targeted neighborhoods.
Lead a local coalition effort resulting in effective humane animal laws with strict penalties for non-compliance.
Educate our community on principles of responsible pet ownership.
Rescue, rehabilitate and place homeless animals.
Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary does not yet have a facility. Because of this, we can only take in as many dogs and cats as we have space for in foster homes. We are in need of expanding our foster network so we can save more animals' lives. If you are able to be a temporary parent to these homeless babies, please call HCWS today at 227-5555

Over 1000 cats and dogs are adopted to new families annually through HCWS' partnership with area PETsMART stores.

Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary adoption center for CATS is located at the Rainbow & I-215 PETsMART store. Stay tuned! You never know when we may be at a PETsMART near you!

HCWS holds DOG adoptions every Saturday at PETsMART on S. Rainbow and the 215 from 10:00am to 5:00pm

HCWS's Feral Cat Clinic is now a monthly event with huge success! We have spayed and neutered over 4700 cats to date, who were then released back to their outdoor homes. This successful event to help reduce the overpopulation of feral cats in the Las Vegas valley was only possible due to the cooperation of many of Las Vegas' animal welfare groups and individuals who care for feral cat colonies in our valley. Heaven Can Wait would like to send out special thanks to the veterinarians who donate their time and professional skills, as well as PETsMART Charities who granted us $10,000 for the program. This is a massive effort to help reduce the overpopulation of feral cats in our city. Please check back to find out about future updates. To volunteer for future dates, please call HCWS at 702-227-5555.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
