Southwest Washington and the greater Portland, OR metro area.

About Our Rescue Group:

We are a non-profit, 501c3 tax-exempt, all-volunteer, no-kill animal rescue organization. We provide temporary shelter and Veterinary care for the homeless cats & dogs in our Foster Home Network. They may be orphaned, strays, abused or otherwise homeless. We take dogs from our local Humane Society, as space in our foster homes permit. Some of these dogs just need time and opportunities to find the right "forever" home. Some require a bit of training or have some issues that require the extra time and effort that our dedicated volunteers can give them.

We have a "seniors for seniors" program that matches eligible senior citizens with appropriate senior pets. This is, in effect, a permanent foster home program. An eligible senior citizen, who otherwise may not be able to afford a pet, is matched with an appropriate senior pet. Pet Aid of Washington provides the Veterinary care for the life of the pet. We, therefore, make the decisions regarding the medical care.

Come Meet our Pets:

We have available pets at the Petco store in the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Hours: 11am - 1pm. We also attend a variety of community events throughout the year, so please check our website for more info.

Our Adoption Process:

Our adoption fees for cats/kittens range from:
$35.00 for senior cats to $75.00 for a kitten. Dogs:
$45.00 for seniors to $80.00 for puppies. We have an Adoption Application; we check references and do home checks. On the rare occasion that we adopt out of our area, we ask for additional references. Phone messages are promptly returned; usually within a couple of hours and never more than 24 hours.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
