Areas Michiana Pet Advocacy Center serves

Our adoptions are not limited by geographical area. If you are interested in adopting any of our pets, and your application has been approved, we will be happy to allow you to arrange a transport. We will help with the transport from our end depending upon the volunteers we have and the distances they are willing to transport.

APPLICATIONS MAY BE FILLED OUT AND APPROVED AT ANY TIME! WITH AN APPROVED APPLICATION, YOU WILL BE READY TO ADOPT ANY PET YOU WISH AS SOON AS IT IS POSTED! (Approved applications will be kept on file.)

All of our pets are microchipped and spayed or neutered prior to adoption unless they are puppies or kittens less than four months of age. Puppies will have a minimum of two 5 way vaccinations plus bordatella. Adult dogs will be fully immunized and heartworm negative.

Our adoption fees start at $100.00. An obedience trained pet is $250.00, which is very reasonable for a happy, healthy, educated pet!

To be approved for adoption, you must have a good reference from a veterinarian, show proof of address, and have permission to adopt a pet from your landlord if you are renting. Any other pets you own must be current on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. If this is your first pet and you have no veterinary reference, you must provide some professional references as to your ability to care for your new pet.

About Michiana Pet Advocacy Center

Michiana Pet Advocacy Center (MPAC) takes dogs. cats, puppies and kittens in emergency cases. We also work with special needs animals that would have no other place to go.

MPAC works with shelters and on a case by case basis.

Our group also has a transport truck that can transport over 30 dogs and cats in emergency situations. We mainly use the truck for Prison Tails at the Westville Correctional Center to transport the dogs to veterinary appointments and adoption events.

Michiana Pet Advocacy Center believes in NO KILL sheltering, and we strive to help those shelters who have a no kill attitude.

We can always use volunteers, fosters, help with transport, and any donations of used pet items you may no longer need. Contact Lois at 574-904-1185 if you have items you are willing to donate. We can always use cash donations or gas cards for our transport volunteers.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in South Bend, IN.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
