"Helping Mahoning Valley Dogs go from Lost to Loved since 1999"

Canine Crusaders is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue countless dogs every year, provide them with loving temporary care and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. Our website also serves as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter.

We also assist local and out of area adopters & Rescue organizations. For more information, please go to: www.canine-crusaders.com

About Our Rescue Group:

The founders of Canine Crusaders began saving dogs from the Mahoning County Pound in 1999 after their own dog, LEEBA was lost. They checked the pound DAILY for several years in hopes that someday, she would be found....Sadly, she never was. But as devastating as LEEBA's loss was to them, they managed to turn a tragedy into something positive by helping many pound dogs find wonderful homes throughout the years. Canine Crusaders was formally established in 2006. Canine Crusaders has helped countless injured, sick and stray dogs.

Canine Crusaders was the very first organization to solely dedicate themselves to helping the pound dogs...the first "TRUE FRIENDS" of the Mahoning Pound Dogs.

Canine Crusaders started the Mahoning County Dog Pound's sponsorship program, Petfinder Website & the volunteer dog walking group in 2006.

After 13+ years of faithful dedication to the Mahoning Pound & the hardships that came along with it, our time has now come to move on. We will concentrate our efforts on area strays and extend our help to dogs in need at ALL local Pounds. We are proud to say that since CANINE CRUSADERS offered our hand of help to the Mahoning County Dog Pound in 1999, we brought the euthanasia rate down from approximately 80% to under 20%!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
