About Our Rescue Group
My name is Jill and I am the President of Homeless Animal Rescue Team. I am a licensed rescue. I have been doing rescue for 3 years now. It is the hardest job I will ever love. The reason I do what I do is to save the animals in the high kill shelters in the Southern states that wouldn't have a chance if it wasn't for out of state rescues such as myself. I also do what I do to educate the public about the proper care of animals and to be the voice for those that are not being taken care of. We are foster home based so we can only save as many as we have room for in our dedicated foster homes so if you can't adopt please consider fostering a dog or puppy for us. Please feel free to call me any time day or night with any questions. 815-919-2587 or thedoglover@att.net
Come Meet our Pets
We are not a shelter. We are a group of concerned pet owners that came together to rescue dogs from municipal kill shelters in rural counties. HART is a liscened rescue and is run by an all volunteer staff. Once we rescue a doog from the kill facility, it is placed in the care of one of our loving foster homes in Northeastern Illinois. To meet one of our sweet dogs or for more information on a particular dog, please contact Jill at thedoglover@att.net. To expidite your request, please download and complete an Adoption Application in full and return to Jill at thedoglover@att.net. Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster home to set up a time to meet the pooch of your choice! You may not get an immediate response as we get tied up when saving dogs from euthanasia, often just days or hours before they are scheduled to be put to sleep. This takes a lot of coordination when done from out of state. Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, It is not unusual for us to take several days to respond. Its not that we do not appreciate you because we LOVE out adopters! Things just take longer for all volunteer organizations so we appreciate your patience and understanding. Feel free to email us again if you feel we may have overlooked your inquiry or application and you are committed to adopting a rescue dog for the rest of its life. Thank you for considering adoption! To make an appointment to meet one of our pets, please download, complete and submit an adoption application. Apps available at www.hartofil.com and will expedite your request.
Our Adoption Process
Our puppies are adopted out at $250. Adults range from $150 to $200. This covers spay/neuter and all age appropriate vaccinations up tp date. We require an adoption application and a home visit prior to adoption.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog
or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from
a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
