Pets at Our Shelter:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We are a small city facility and are only able to take in dogs and cats from within the city limits of Havelock, NC.

About Our Shelter:

The Havelock Animal Shelter is operated by Animal Control, a division of the Havelock Police Department. Animal Control officers Adams and Miller patrol the city looking for stray and lost animals, responding to animal complaints and enforcing state and city animal control ordinances.

Animals are sheltered and fed for a minimum of four days before being transported to the Craven-Pamilco shelter in New Bern.

Due to our facility's small size and the high volume of animals we take in, we are only able to accept strays and owner turn-ins from within the city limits of Havelock. This also means that the adoptable animals at our shelter will likely not be here long, so if you are interested in one of the animals on our site please act quickly!

Come Meet our Pets:

We are open 7 days a week (with the exception of city holidays) from 8am-5pm. There is only one Animal Control Officer on duty at a time and we cannot predict when we receive a call, so occassionally the shelter may be briefly closed throughout the day.
We are located on Governmental Ave directly behind City Hall and across the parking lot from the park and Police Department.

For additional photos of any pets you see on this site, please visit our website at: http://havelockshelter.wix.com/havac

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
