About Our Shelter:

The Suncoast Animal League is a not-for-profit animal welfare organization established in 2006. We rely solely on public donations to help and care for all our animals.

Suncoast Animal League serves as an educational community resource working to educate the public about the prevention of cruelty to animals; to provide a home to animals in need; and to serve as a resource for pet owners that find themselves in extraordinary circumstances possibly needing temporary assistance for the care of their animals.

Our Adoption Process:

The most rewarding service we offer here at the Suncoast Animal League is our pet adoption program. We stand by our belief that these animal are our pets until they become yours.

All potential adopters are required to go through an application process and spend some time talking to the staff and visiting with their new pet before going home. When coming in to adopt, it is best to bring any current vet records on existing pets, the name and phone number of your current veterinarian and a lease or rental agreement, if applicable.

All animals have an adoption fee. The adoption fee is considered a donation toward the care that the animal has received while with us and towards the care that we will provide to all future animals. As the adoption fee may vary ($25 - $100), so please call for details.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
