Pets at Our Shelter:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

The purpose of the Kingdom Animal Shelter is to facilitate the placement of stray and unwanted animals and pets in desirable homes; to establish and maintain an animal shelter and associated procedures which promote the health, care and handling, and prevent over population and the prevention of cruelty to animals. The animals in our care, our guests are never euthanized merely because we lack space or because the animal’s stay with us has exceeded a predefined amount of time.”

The Kingdom Animal Shelter will be an “Open Access” one.

We serve Caledonia County.

About Our Shelter:

Kingdom Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer 501[c]3 organization. Our goal has been to build a shelter in the St. Johnsbury-area.

We have been holding several major fundraisers each year. The past several years we’ve held Pet Photos with Santa, a huge Yard Sale and our very successful FurBall. We have a table annually at Danville’s “Autumn on the Green Festival” the first Sunday in October. We have a great new web site, and a voice mailbox for people to call to leave messages if they are looking to adopt a pet, surrender a cat, volunteer with us or just general information on animal care and local resources.

Come Meet our Pets:

On November 1, 2009 we opened our cat adoption center, "Kingdom Kats", at 1664 Memorial Drive (Rt 5) in St. Johnsbury Center. Currently, we can only take adoptable cats and kittens in our adoption program but we can help act as a resource to help you locate a dog breed rescue, or an animal shelter/humane society/rescue in the state that may be able to assist you.

Our Adoption Process:

If you are ready to open your heart and home to a new feline friend you can check our web site for our cats ready for adoption. Some may be in a foster home but arrangements can be made for you to meet. If you are interested in a particular cat, please phone our hotline (802-741-7387) and leave your name, phone number, and a message, and one of our volunteers will call you back. You can also print the “Adoption Application” and mail it to us. Please make sure all information is complete and the application is signed. Our adoption fee for adult cats and altered kittens is $75, unaltered kittens $125. Download an application from our web site or contact our hotline.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
