Additional adoption info

All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before adoption and are identified with "S" ear tattoo. Most are also microchipped. Kittens will have at least their first shots; adults will be current on their shots. We require a detailed application that includes sufficient information to ensure that the animals are going to safe and loving homes. Animals are adopted "as is" and we do not guarantee the health of any of them. We will not provide monetary assistance for any adopted animals; adoptors take full monetary and medical responsibility. Animals are not to be resold. We provide full health information so far as is known. We screen adoptive homes and follow up by phone or mail once the adoption is completed. Current adoption donation is $65.00. About 90% of our cats are placed through the PetsMart Charities Love-A-Pet Adoption Center at the Twin Falls, Idaho PetsMart.

About Sheena Foundation, Ltd.

Organized in 2001 by a group of caring volunteers who wished to provide an alternative to the traditional shelters common to this area, The Sheena Foundation is a dream of Dr. James and Bonnie LaRue, and shares quarters with their veterinary practice in Filer, Id. We are entirely volunteer - few, but dedicated, and supported generally by a small community of private donors and small grantors who believe in our work. Since 2006, we have concentrated solely on cats because they are still generally ignored in this part of the world. Last year, 275 cats and kittens, mostly rescues, were placed in adoptive homes; some 100 feral or free-roaming cats received TNR surgery and basic health care before being returned to their environment, and an additional 400 family cats were spayed or neutered at our regular monthly low-cost spay/neuter clinics. We get a lot done for very little money, and we always appreciate donors who help us make real Second Chances for these cats and kittens.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
