Adopt A Cat
About Our Shelter
Adopt A Cat's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and foster homeless felines until safe and caring permanent homes are found for them. Adopt A Cat also works toward lessening the problem of pet overpopulation by spaying and neutering its rescues, by educating the public about the importance of sterilizing companion animals, and by providing information on low-cost spay/neuter programs.
Adopt A Cat maintains a "no kill" policy. This means only animals, whose pain and suffering cannot be alleviated by any other means, are euthanized.
We bring our cats and kittens into your community by having adoptions at PETCO's and PETSMART's around Houston. All of our cats are spayed or neutered before they are adopted.
We are a grassroots organization. Our growth and success are due to the incorporation of individuals who rescue the cats in their neighborhoods, the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of donors and businesses in our community.
We give sick and injured cats the treatment and care they need to become the healthy, happy companions they are meant to be!
Come Meet our Pets
Adopt A Cat holds adoptions every weekend. The adoption fee is $85.00 and helps defray the cost of spaying/neutering, FeLV/FIV Testing, vaccinations, and other necessary medications or procedures.
In addition to the locations listed below, we also hold adoptions by appointment at the Adopt A Cat Shelter/Sanctuary. Please call 281-350-6652 or email info@adoptacattexas.org to make an appointment to visit the shelter and the cats. Many of our adoptable cats can be viewed on Petfinder.
We charge and $85 adoption fee to help offset the cost of caring for the animals we rescue. All of our animals are spayed and neutered before they are placed in new homes. The also are tested for FIV&FeLeuk, given vaccinations and treated for fleas and worms. Many of our cats require much more care than this depending on what kind of shape they are in when we take them into our care.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat
or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from
a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
