Pets at Our Rescue Group:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

I am an independent rescuer out of Waukesha who specializes in Chihuahuas and small breed dogs. Most of the animals I rescue are from shelters where they lack room for housing and will be euthanized. All animals that go through the rescue are fully vetted. I have a mandatory spay and neuter policy. Animals will not be adopted out unless they are spayed or neutered first. I network with a small group of fosters during busy times.

About Our Rescue Group:

One Life @ A Time feels vetting is very important. Any applicant that does not have their current companion animals up to date with vaccinations and/or spayed/neutered, will NOT be considered.
We rescue animals to save their lives from euthanization and we do not want them going back into the arms of harm's way or a shelter environment again. Please remember that companion animals are part of the family, and they are a life long commitment. This should always be considered when adding on to your current family.

Our Adoption Process:

Adoption fees are as follows: Dogs 5 years or older: $150. Puppies up to 5 years are $275. All of our animals are fully vetted prior to adoption. They are all up to date with vaccinations, heart worm testing, fecal testing, spayed and neutered, dental work, and any other health issues are addressed. We also micro chip our pets! Applications require a vet reference as well as other personal references. Once an application is approved, a home visit is set up. Everyone living in the home must be present for the home visit, including other companion animals (if any). If everything at the home visit goes smoothly the contract and terms and agreement of the adoption are filled out. We follow up with animals adopted out to make sure there are no unexpected problems. Adoption fees are non-refundable as they go straight into vetting new animals arriving at the rescue. We do however, take back any animals under any circumstances should the adoption not work out for the adoptee. We also offer a week long trial foster first to ensure a smooth adoption before the final adoption is done.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
