Additional adoption info

Adoption fee is $75 depending on breed, age, and special needs. We offer a deep discount rate to senior adopters
We require a signed adoption contract, and may require an in-home visit prior to approval for special needs pets, or where multiple pets are housed.
We do not adopt to parties who may desire to de-claw our lovely kitties.
Kittens are only adopted in pairs, unless another acceptable feline resides in the household.
Kittens under the age of 4 months are not adopted to families with very young children, except in special circumstances.
All cats or kittens over the age of 3 months must be spayed or neutered, and microchipped before leaving our rescue.
We will welcome any of our former guests back into our arms, at any time, any age if the circumstances of an adopter change and no known loving family is available for our friend.

About AChance4Cats

Our semi-permanent rescue guests, accepted here from the shelter , are senior, and special needs cats. These cats usually have more extensive medical needs than were practical cost wise, for an animal shelter who must provide for so many to treat. The good of the many must be weighed against the good of the one, and that is where we come in.
These kitties remain with us until treatment is complete, and their special family comes along. Our intake is EXTREMELY LIMITED, as medical costs are high, and space is a premium here. We are limited currently to 6 guests in addition to our residents. Average length of stay- 3-6 months. Average cost of treatment and food during that time $400-$600, and YES, that’s EACH.
Achance4cats is primarily a no-kill facility, we do not euthanize for space or age, but that also means we are only able to help a select few, when so many need us. We use veterinary provided sedation and euthanasia only if we find that our guest cannot live a comfortable, meaningful life. Rarely, this is necessary when a medical or physical condition requires a lengthy, miserable existence for our feline friend. In these cases, we rely heavily on Broadway Animal Hospital, and our Board Certified Feline Specialist; Dr Karen Allington to guide us in making the best and most compassionate decision possible.
We are always seeking responsible short term and long term foster homes since space is so limited here. We are also open to Foster-to-Adopt possibilities

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
