Actually all of us here at ANH are totally volunteer. We took over the City Pound because it was a terrible place. No one ever tried to place the dogs. Three days and that was it. No heat, no running water and filthy. We now have the support of the city, and the public. Our facility is small but it's clean and our shelter kids are well taken care of and loved. We go out to the shelter 5 or 6 times a day to work with the dogs and make sure everyone gets to go potty and get exercise. We have 4 huge excersise yards where we can rotate the dogs and everyone gets a turn in the fresh air. We do this because we love them. We also do this because we still believe that each person can make a huge difference in thier own little corner of the world. We fund a low cost spay/neuter program for the public. All proceeds from our fund raisers go toward this very important program. Hopefully by educating the public about responsible ownership we can reduce the unwanted pets. Wouldn't that be wonderful if there was no need for shelters and rescues. Big Dreams sometimes do come true.

Since we are not an open shelter, we take appointments by phone or email. One of us will always be available to meet a potential adopter. We will be glad to help deliver if you are out of our area. Just give us a call. We can work out the details on an individual basis. Thanks

We do not have a set adoption fee. We do require references to adopt one of our pets. A vet reference works best. Then we do accept donations.
