Areas Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue serves
We are based near downtown Pittsburgh and service anyone wanting to save a pet in need. We are a foster-exclusive rescue group, all animals are in private homes with families where they learn basic manners and behavior. You must be within driving distance, however, as we will not 'ship' our animals and a home visit is a requirement of adoption.

To adopt from Home Sweet Home, you will need to complete our application and provide personal and vet references. You will attend a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in to see how you respond to one another. A home check will be done by an HSHAR representative. Once all of these conditions have been met and the application has been approved we move on to the adoption. Rehoming fees do apply, but vary from one animal to the next. The rehoming fee of one animal goes 100% toward the rescue, vetting, and care of the next animal in need.You may contact HSHAR directly for more information.

HSHAR is a family of administrators, fosters, and volunteers who have joined together to make lives better for abused, neglected, injured, or homeless animals. We believe every life is precious and every creature has a right to a wonderful life. We work hard to pull dogs from high-kill shelters in the tri-state area so that no dog has to die needlessly and horribly. Our passion is saving these beautiful lives- rehabbing those that come to us weak, scared, hurt, abused, or starving, and watching them bloom in an environment of proper care and love, and seeing them off to a wonderful future. We do this because it is a calling from our hearts, and while it is stressful, costly, time consuming, and at times heartbreaking, we cannot ignore the path our lives are meant to take. Our animals are our reason for being, they are why we are here and everyone involved with HSHAR is there because rescue runs through their hearts and their souls.
