HSHAR is a family of administrators, fosters, and volunteers who have joined together to make lives better for abused, neglected, injured, or homeless animals. We believe every life is precious and every creature has a right to a wonderful life. We work hard to pull dogs from high-kill shelters in the tri-state area so that no dog has to die needlessly and horribly. Our passion is saving these beautiful lives- rehabbing those that come to us weak, scared, hurt, abused, or starving, and watching them bloom in an environment of proper care and love, and seeing them off to a wonderful future. We do this because it is a calling from our hearts, and while it is stressful, costly, time consuming, and at times heartbreaking, we cannot ignore the path our lives are meant to take. Our animals are our reason for being, they are why we are here and everyone involved with HSHAR is there because rescue runs through their hearts and their souls.

Any of our rescue babies are always available for meet and greets unless they come to us in such poor condition that they require a period of rehab or recouperation prior to adoption. Anyone can arrange a meeting with any of our available rescue babies by contacting us, at which time you will be directed to the foster home where they are being cared for.

To adopt from Home Sweet Home, you will need to complete our application, available to download from our website and provide personal and vet references. You will attend a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in to see how you respond to one another. A home check will be done by an HSHAR representative. Once all of these conditions have been met and the application has been approved we move on to the adoption. Rehoming fees do apply, but vary from dog to dog.
