German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue of Michigan
About Our Rescue Group
We do rescue for the love of the breed that are all too often thrown away, dumped on the side of the road, left behind in the fields if they don't hunt the way the owner wants them too, they're dumped in kill shelters knowing they won't be adopted, usually because of their high energy activity level.
The German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue of Michigan have placed 1,000+ GSP 's into wonderful homes over the years. We have been involved with German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue for 27 years. We are dedicated to helping those German Shorthaired Pointers in need of a second chance, in Michigan, other states, Canada, and other countries.
Some of them my hunt, some of them are couch potatoes, but all of them are ready to love and be loved. We have German Shorthaired Pointer's ready to fit into almost any home or environment, IF you pass the adoption criteria. Rescue Dogs are house raised not kennel raised.
Our Rescue Organization is located in Montrose Michigan. We are a 501-c3 Non-Profit Organization, registered with the State of Michigan. Please, contact us if you are interested in any of the dogs on our list.
ALL RESCUE DOGS ARE TO BE HOUSE DOGS ONLY.
Come Meet our Pets
You may check our website to see where we may be doing an adoption event or you may come to our home to meet the dog(s) you may be interested in.
Our Adoption Process
You will need to fill out an adoption application, which will ask for 3 personal references, and a vet reference. After receiving your adoption application, a home visit will be scheduled at your convenience. We do adopt almost anywhere as long as we can find someone to do the home visit. A fenced yard is mandatory, invisible fence is allowed for most dogs. Our adoption fees vary $150-$350, depending on what veterinary care needs to be done. All puppies/dogs will be spayed/neutered, heartworm tested after the age of 6 months, dewormed, vaccinated to the age of the puppy/dog, all are also microchipped. They are also temperament tested and socialized.
Adopting a friend from a rescue group or shelter is the best thing you could do for the unwanted pets in the world.
If your approved for adopting one of our companions, there is an adoption contract that will be signed by both parties.
Not every dog is for every family, please remember that when your looking for a companion for your family.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog
or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from
a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
