Pets at Our Shelter:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We serve the towns of New Fairfield CT and Sherman CT and we do adopt animals to approved adopters outside this area as well. Our mission is to offer refuge, medical care, and the opportunity for a second chance for life to needy dogs and cats; to protect animals from cruelty or neglect; to foster a public sentiment of humanity and gentleness toward all living creatures; to encourage and promote responsible pet ownership; and to reduce companion animal overpopulation through humane education and spay/neuter advocacy.

About Our Shelter:

We are a small shelter on the CT/NY border. We have a very small staff but a fairly large number of volunteers who come regularly to care for, socialize, and train our residents. We promote humane education in the community. We find homes for over 150 animals a year and growing! We are always in need of more volunteers and supplies. Some of our most common needs are newspaper, cat litter, dry and canned dog food, dry and canned cat food, toys, treats, paper towels, bleach, and 30 gallon garbage bags.

Come Meet our Pets:

We are open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM til 3 PM. Please feel free to stop in or if you prefer call us at 203.746.2925 for an appointment!

Our Adoption Process:

You may come to the shelter in person to complete an application, go to our website, or we can email one to you. The application must be completed including all necessary references. Once the application is approved we will arrange a time for you to adopt your pet. Our adoption donations are:
Adult Cats: $100
Kittens: $125
Adult Dogs: $200
Puppies: $225
We accept cash or check only for the donation.

All of our pets are current on vaccines and are spayed/neutered. (We provide a spay/neuter certificate for you to use at one of our vets if pet is under 6 months old.) Dogs are heartworm tested and on monthly preventatives. Cats have all been tested for FELV/FIV.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
