Our Adoption Process:

GSGSR foster dogs are rescued from shelters and pounds in New Jersey where most were facing euthanasia or through our owner referral or surrender program.

They are fully vetted, brought up to date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. They live with our volunteers in a foster home so we can evaluate them before they are offered for adoption. This allows us time to get to know the shepherd so that we can make the best match with their new home.

Our adoption process includes an filing out an adoption application form on our website at www.gsgsr.org. We required 3 references as well as a vet reference if you have an animal. We conduct a phone interview and home visit and then match up the best available dog that matches the applicants needs.

Our suggest donation for adoption is:

$350.00 for puppies to 1 year old.
$300.00 for a dog 1 to 6 years old.
$150.00 for a dog 7 years old and up.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
