We serve all of Koochiching county. We will adopt out to other counties but the potential adopter is responsible for all transportation.
The Borderland Humane Society is a non-profit organization that runs solely from foster homes. Our mission is to establish a shelter in Int'l Falls and our purpose is to educate the public on the health and welfare of all animals. We focus on Spay and Neuter and pet owner responsibility.
Come Meet our Pets:
We are located in International Falls. If you are interested in a certain pet, call the BHS Hotline and our on call volunteer will direct you to the appropriate foster home where you can set up a time to meet the animal of your choice.
Our Adoption Process:
We require an adoption application to be filled out prior to adoption and references will be checked. A background check may be done but will be at the discretion of the foster family only. Our adoption fee is $50 for cats and $65 for dogs. This may change according to specific breeds. All our animals that are old enough will be spayed or neutered before adoption but if they are under age, we will issue a voucher of $50 towards the cost of the procedure provided the vet you chose will honor the voucher.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
