Prospective adopters should hopefully live within the radius of a couple of hours drive from Princeton, NJ, to make home visits easier for us, but we’re not strict about the distance if we think the match is a good one between the dog and a new family. SMALL DOG RESCUE, INC. (formerly "Small Animal Rescue, Inc.") is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. We are a no-kill sanctuary, primarily for small dogs.

Small Dog Rescue is a sanctuary that takes in not just the young dogs, but the old, the sick, the cranky, the dogs with painful baggage after being abandoned and given up. We do our best to rehabilitate them and find them loving homes. No Kill, 501-C3

Our Adoption Process:

WE DO NOT HAVE ONLINE APPLICATIONS, AN APPLICATION CAN BE FILLED OUT WHEN YOU MEET THE DOG YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.
Please contact us BY EMAIL, if there is a particular dog from among those in our roster that you want to meet. Otherwise we will make our own choices among the dogs to be transported for adoption. Please try to EMAIL before Saturday to help us prepare a roster of dogs going to PET VALU in Hillsborough

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
