Pets at Our Shelter:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We are located in Connecticut and qualified families within driving distance are welcome to adopt domestic ducks and geese from us.

About Our Shelter:

Our mission at Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary is to stop the vicious cycle of waterfowl abandonment.

Through rescue, rehabilitation, placement and education, we do everything we can to prevent the inhumane physical and emotional traumatization and death of these former pets--first at a local level here in Connecticut, and ultimately at a national level.

We humanely capture abandoned domestic ducks and geese and bring them into our sanctuary for care and medical treatment. Once physically and emotionally healthy, we do everything we can to find them safe, loving and permanent new homes.

Come Meet our Pets:

Visits to the sanctuary are scheduled by appointment ONLY and are arranged via email. Visitors showing up without an appointment will be turned away. Appointments are commonly scheduled on Saturdays between 11 a.m. & 4:00 p.m. depending on our availability. Please refer to our website for further information regarding "Sanctuary Visits."

Our Adoption Process:

We only adopt our ducks and geese to families with predator proof pens. We do not adopt to families who wish to "free range" their pet ducks and geese. All adopters must fill out our adoption application on our website, allow for a site visit or provide clear and detailed photos of your waterfowl enclosure for our review. We require a $25 donation per bird adopted. We also like to see our new families sign up for our monthly newsletter that includes health and care information about waterfowl that you can't find anywhere else.

Why should you adopt?

birds can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a bird for sale or finding a bird breeder, adopting a bird from an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a bird to your family. Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for a bird. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or attention your bird needs, and many other important things about how to house and care for a bird. There are different types of birds including African Grey, Amazon, Brotogeris, Budgie, Button Quail, Caique, Canary, Chicken, Cockatiel, Cockatoo, Conure, Dove, Duck, Eclectus, Emu, Finch, Goose, Guinea Fowl, Kakariki, Lorikeet, Lovebird, Macaw, Mynah, Ostrich, Parakeet - Other, Parakeet - Quaker, Parrotlet, Parrot - Other, Peacock, Pheasant, Pigeon, Pionus, Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's), Quail, Rhea, Ringneck, Rosella, Softbill - Other, Swan, Toucan, and Turkey.
