The Prairie Dog Canine Rescue is a volunteer run organization based in Lethbridge, Alberta. We serve all of Southern Alberta but have rescued dogs from as far away as Nunavut. The dogs in our system come from all different kinds of situations- from the reserve dogs, owner surrenders to abandoned or stray dogs.

Come Meet our Pets:

We do not have a facility to house our dogs. They live with foster parents and their families and pets and are taught the basic skills every dog should know - how to walk on a leash, potty training, etc. Contact us to arrange to meet a specific dog.

Our Adoption Process:

Each of our dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

The cost of adoption is $250.

In you are interested in adopting a dog, please visit our website (www.prairiedogcaninerescue.com) and download an application form and e-mail it to prairiedogcaninerescue@hotmail.com.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
