Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Dames for Danes is a breed-specific rescue for Great Danes. We are based out of Knoxville, TN. We serve all surrounding areas and extend as far as our resources permit, while not making an exceptions to our adoption requirements.

About Our Rescue Group:

Dames for Danes is a group of people dedicated to helping danes in need be it owner surrender or a shelter situation. We provide any needed vet care the dane may need prior to adoption to include a heartworm test, spay or neuter and microchip. As well, we provide each dane with the appropriate foster home, where their behavior is tested to guarantee proper placment in their forever homes. We rescue simply out of the love for the breed with support only from our communities and volunteers.

Come Meet our Pets:

We currently do not participate in what many describe as "meet and greets". We feel it is important to maintain our danes in private foster homes and not expose them to being an exhibit. All approved applicants are welcome to visit our danes for adoption in their private foster homes upon scheduling such.

Our Adoption Process:

An application is the first requirement and step in adopting one of our danes. Upon applying, you will be contacted by a representative of our group for a phone interview. Following this if requirements are met, we can progress to a home visit. You will also be expected to provide a vet reference, as well as personal referecnes, which will be checked. The adoption fee for a young dane is $300. However, fees vary for seniors and mixes when available.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
