About Our Rescue Group:

We are a Non-Profit 501(c)3 all volunteer organization dedicated to assisting Carson City Animal Services and other organizations in the areas served to find homes for homeless animals.

By engaging and educating the community, the Carson Tahoe SPCA works to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals as well as realizing the benefits of adopting an animal in need.

Volunteers are always needed. If you are interested in fostering, working at adoption events, or just playing with a dog or cat to get to know them and creating a profile we can use the help! Please contact us!

Come Meet our Pets:

We have adoption events at many craft fairs, special events and home shows around the area. We also have cats at the Carson City PetSmart at 250 Fairview Drive just off of S. Carson St (US-395) between Lowe's and Office Depot in the Silver City Mall.

Our Adoption Process:

Our adoption process involves filling out an adoption application which will be reviewed and discussed with you. If approved, there is a brief adoption contract to fill out and an adoption fee to be paid.
Fees range from $70-$100 with special considerations given to adopters of special needs or senior pets .

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
